Agranimo at Rockstart AgriFood

Chile’s own Agranimo has been selected for the First Rockstart AgriFood Program

Chilean startup Agranimo has been selected to participate in an intensive, six-month AgriFood Program in Copenhagen. Agranimo provides real-time micro-climate intelligence to farmers, retailers, and insurance companies in the fresh produce industry. They use real-time micro-climate data to help farmers increase yields, use water and fertilizer more precisely; retailers forecast supply of fresh produce, improve food pricing and reduce food waste; and insurance companies offer parametric crop insurance.

“What we really like about Agranimo’s vision is the idea that the farmer’s yield and harvest projections can be connected to other stakeholders. Solutions that provide data insights and optimize processes are key to driving towards a sustainable food supply system, which is a core element of our investment thesis”, said Mark Durno, Partner Rockstart AgriFood.

Rockstart is an international company that supports and empowers the best startups on their way to success across four domains: Energy, Health, AgriFood, and Emerging technologies. They provide startups with access to the capital, market, community, and expertise by connecting them to partners, investors, mentors and the wider Rockstart network. AgriFood is the first domain where Rockstart offers support from the initial phase all the way up to Series B with a €15 million fund.

Rockstart founder Rune Theill believes startups have the ability to redefine domains through innovation, stating, “We are really excited that we are now able to offer long-term support for the participating startups in our programs – starting with AgriFood. AgriFood is a domain where there is lots of room for innovation and we, therefore, expect to see many startups turning into global businesses in upcoming years. With Rockstart AgriFood, we want to take a hands-on active role in building these businesses.”

The AgriFood program is made up of 7 Deep Dive Week sessions, each of which has a specific focus designed to take the startups through the various stages of business development to make them investment-ready. The startups also gain access to dedicated partners from different industries within the AgriFood ecosystem. The Rockstart AgriFood partners include BAYER, Danske Bank, Danish Food Cluster, The Greenery, Grodan, Kramp, and LifeX. Apart from their stellar lineup of partners, they also have a network of experienced mentors. The mentors will support and guide the startups through the challenges of business development and preparing the teams for global scaling.

Agranimo joined the programme because they are at a point of growing the team, improving the manufacturing and scaling the sales, and they wanted a partner with deep understanding of the business to support the startup. Rockstart recognised the value Agranimo provides to their customers and the potential the company has to improve the supply chain of fresh produce. That made Agranimo confident that together they can create a more efficient, sustainable and inclusive market for fresh produce worldwide, and pursue the broader vision of advancing bio-based economy worldwide.
